Draft US 101 Mid County Multimodal Strategy

The TA is accepting Working Group member comments from August 29 to September 5, 2025

The San Mateo County Transportation Authority (TA) has prepared the draft US 101 Mid County Multimodal Strategy which identifies projects that best meet the needs for all types of transportation options. The Mid County strategy includes the cities of Burlingame, San Mateo, Foster City, Belmont, San Carlos, and Redwood Shores. The project includes a one-mile study area along both sides of the corridoor to identify projects that can be considered for inclusion in the funding strategy.

Below, you can view the draft US 101 Mid County Multimodal Strategy and provide input. This strategy aims to improve the way people and goods move through the Mid County portion of the corridor. It includes an introduction to the 101 Corridor Connect program, analysis of existing conditions, summary of the stakeholder and community outreach that was conducted, project identification and scoring methodology, and the final list of priority projects for Mid County.

Not sure if it was supposed to be used or not here, but we sent over info for the schedule:

Started - Feb 2025 (Central ECR Multimodal Plan, which is helping developing alternatives)
Construction – 2030+ (anticipated)
Suggestion
We had suggested "City of" for sponsor, but should omit it for continuity with other city names in the project sheets

The above schedule is for the majority of San Mateo while the SHOPP project covers a small portion of the northern extents
Suggestion
Same comment as before: Just spoke with Burlingame staff the other day about GBI, and in passing we heard correctly construction may not start until early 2026 now. Might be best to confirm dates with them?

This is the latest cost estimate, but please add a note or asterisk - cost estimate to be refreshed.
Suggestion
It's in a gray area, but should Grand Boulevard Initiative and/or Central El Camino Real Multimodal Plan be listed here as well since it's referenced later in the project factsheets?
Suggestion
Could also list the Caltrain Capital Improvement Plan
Suggestion
Suggest modifying this figure, we are inching near $125M
Suggestion
Suggest adding a column with local agency where the project is in.
Suggestion
Please label
Suggestion
the red line will be larger because in reality interchange project starts and ends at least one-two blocks at two sides of the interchange.
Suggestion
The map doesn't look correct for Redwood Shores. Can you check it with this map? link
Suggestion
can you label Redwood Shores Pkwy on the map?
Suggestion
Can you change the legend colors so there are not two orange lines on the map?
Suggestion
The project cost estimate is based on the 2016 Belmont Comprehensive Ped/Bike Plan study and may not reflect current costs. It would be better to list it as pending here.
